Role Overview
Econopack Industries is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to take full ownership of payroll management and administration within the organisation. This is a critical compliance-driven role responsible for ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time, while maintaining complete payroll records and adhering to all relevant Sri Lankan labour laws, EPF/ETF regulations, and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the complete payroll function for all employees — monthly processing, calculations, and disbursements
- Ensure all employees are paid accurately, on time, and in full compliance with Sri Lankan payroll regulations
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate payroll records including salary registers, deductions, allowances, and overtime
- Calculate and process EPF, ETF, PAYE tax, and all other statutory deductions accurately and on schedule
- Administer attendance, leave, and overtime data from department heads and ensure correct payroll input
- Process payroll using computerised payroll management systems and attendance tracking software
- Prepare payroll reports, variance analyses, and payroll summaries for management and finance teams
- Ensure compliance with all relevant labour laws including the Wages Board Ordinance, Shop & Office Employees Act, and EPF/ETF Act
- Liaise with the Department of Labour, EPF/ETF offices, and Inland Revenue Department as required
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all payroll and employee compensation information
Requirements
- Minimum 3–4 years of experience in a similar payroll role within a manufacturing organisation
- Passed G.C.E. O/L and A/L examinations
- Completed an HRM Certificate level course from a reputed university or recognised institute
- Strong knowledge of general payroll practices, procedures, operations, and Sri Lankan labour legislation
- Proficiency in spreadsheets, formulas, data extraction, and report generation using MS Excel
- Well-versed in MS Office package and sophisticated Attendance & Payroll Management Systems
- Ability to work under pressure and consistently meet tight payroll processing deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- High level of confidentiality, integrity, and ethics
