Role Overview

Sri Lanka Insurance General is offering a Chartered Trainee – Internal Audit (Traineeship) position for ambitious, detail-oriented individuals pursuing their Chartered Accountancy qualification. This traineeship provides structured, hands-on exposure to internal audit planning, execution, and reporting within Sri Lanka’s leading state insurance institution.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and executing internal audit assignments across various departments and business units of Sri Lanka Insurance General
  • Evaluate internal controls, operational processes, and risk management frameworks to identify weaknesses and areas of improvement
  • Prepare comprehensive audit working papers, maintain audit documentation, and draft clear and accurate audit reports
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend corrective actions to management
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and insurance industry standards throughout all audit engagements
  • Liaise professionally with department heads and operational staff during audit fieldwork
  • Support the Internal Audit team with special investigations and ad-hoc review assignments

Qualifications & Pre-Requisites

  • Successful completion of or currently following the Corporate Level of Chartered Accountancy (CA Sri Lanka or equivalent) — this is a mandatory requirement
  • Having completed or currently following a degree in Finance, Accountancy, or Business Management from a UGC-recognised university will be an added advantage
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills — ability to evaluate complex operational and financial data
  • Good communication skills and report writing abilities in English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications — especially Excel
  • High level of integrity, professional ethics, and attention to detail
  • Preferably age below 26 years
