Role Overview

MICO Ceylon Organics is seeking a motivated and experienced Field Officer to join their agricultural operations team. This is a dynamic field-based role involving regular visits to farmer locations, raw material procurement, certification compliance, and extension training. The successful candidate will act as a vital link between farming communities and the company’s quality assurance and certification requirements. Candidates residing in Gampaha, Embilipitiya, Rathnapura, and Hambantota areas will be given preference.

Key Responsibilities

• Visit and support farmer locations on a regular basis, building strong and trusting working relationships with farming communities
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date farmer records and documentation for certification and compliance purposes
• Coordinate and manage raw material purchasing from registered farmers, ensuring quality standards are met
• Support and coordinate annual audit requirements including Organic, Fairtrade, NaturLand, and ROC certifications
• Assist in implementing and monitoring organic certification standards across all registered farms
• Develop and conduct farmer extension and training programmes to improve organic farming practices
• Liaise with internal quality control, procurement, and management teams
• Travel between Colombo, Embilipitiya, and other locations as required
• Work occasional additional hours and on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) when necessary

Qualifications & Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Food Science, Agriculture, or a related field
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in organic system management and food processing
• Knowledge of organic certification systems such as Organic, Fairtrade, NaturLand, and ROC will be a strong advantage
• Valid driving licence and ability to travel between Colombo and Embilipitiya
• Ability to work occasional additional hours and on weekends
• Candidates residing in Gampaha, Embilipitiya, Rathnapura, or Hambantota areas will be given preference
• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
• A proactive, field-oriented mindset with a genuine interest in organic agriculture
