Job Overview

The Engineering Assistant (Electrical) will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and preventive upkeep of all electrical and mechanical machinery and equipment at the Ekala plant. This is a technical, hands-on role requiring strong electrical knowledge, practical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment at the Ekala facility
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical and electronic faults promptly and effectively
  • Perform preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and maximize operational efficiency
  • Support installations, upgrades, and complex repairs in collaboration with senior engineers
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and manage spare parts inventory
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards at all times
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals for effective troubleshooting
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external parties (vendors, contractors) for smooth operations
  • Identify areas for operational improvement and support overall plant efficiency initiatives

Who We’re Looking For

  • Passed GCE A/L – Mathematics Scheme
  • National Diploma in Technology – a 3-year course conducted by the Ministry of Higher Education in the field of Electricals or Electronics
    OR
  • Special Apprentices in Engineering Science Course conducted by the Institute of Engineering Technology at Katunayake in the field of Electrical or Electronics
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in engineering maintenance of electrical or electronics components in a manufacturing enterprise
  • Experience in the supervision and maintenance of Boilers, Air Compressors, Generators, and Chilled Water Plants is a strong advantage
