As part of its ongoing growth strategy, MBSL is seeking a dynamic, experienced professional to join its leadership team in the critical role of Chief Risk Officer (CRO).

Job Role

MBSL is seeking an exceptionally qualified and experienced Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to lead the company’s enterprise-wide risk management function. Reporting directly to the Board Integrated Risk Management Committee (BIRMC), the CRO will be responsible for developing and implementing a robust risk management framework, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a risk-aware culture throughout the organisation. This is a senior executive position with board-level exposure and significant strategic responsibility.

Reporting Line

The selected candidate will report directly to the Board Integrated Risk Management Committee (BIRMC), while maintaining close coordination with the Board of Directors and Corporate Management.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and oversee the overall Risk Management function of the company across all business divisions.
Develop, implement, and continuously enhance the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework.
Monitor and manage credit, operational, market, liquidity, compliance, reputational, and strategic risks.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and other applicable regulations.
Provide independent risk assessments and strategic recommendations to the Board and Senior Management.
Promote and strengthen a risk-aware culture across the entire organisation.
Ensure effective risk reporting, policy formulation, and governance practices.
Liaise with regulators, auditors, and other key stakeholders on all risk-related matters.

Qualifications & Experience

A degree in Finance, Banking, Accountancy, Risk Management, Business Management, or a related field from a recognised university.
Professional qualifications in Banking, Finance, Risk Management, or Accountancy will be a distinct advantage.
Minimum 6 years of experience in the banking or financial services sector, with substantial exposure in Risk Management at a senior managerial level.
Thorough knowledge of risk governance frameworks, regulatory requirements, and financial industry best practices.
Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
