Job Role

Catalan Industries is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and result-oriented Assistant HR Manager to join their team at the Matara facility. This is a senior HR role requiring a strong understanding of Sri Lankan labour laws, HR strategy, and people management. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the company’s HR function, driving talent acquisition, employee engagement, and organisational development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Lead end-to-end recruitment and talent acquisition strategies to build a strong talent pipeline across all levels.
  • Oversee performance management systems and drive employee development and succession planning initiatives.
  • Promote employee engagement, retention, and a positive organisational culture across the workforce.
  • Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary matters in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Ensure full compliance with Sri Lankan labour laws, statutory requirements, and company HR policies.
  • Oversee compensation and benefits administration, recommend improvements aligned with market benchmarks.
  • Lead and mentor the HR team, building capability, accountability, and a high-performance culture.
  • Analyse HR metrics and prepare reports to support data-driven decision making for senior management.
  • Partner with senior management to support business growth and organisational change initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan labour laws and HR best practices.
  • Proven experience in HR strategy, talent management, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost integrity.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
