Based in Dankotuwa, they are now seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to join their finance team as an Assistant Accountant.

Job Overview

As the Assistant Accountant at Ceylon Catch (Pvt) Ltd, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the financial integrity of the company’s operations. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with accounting standards, managing complex tax requirements, and contributing to the seamless preparation of financial statements. Proximity to Dankotuwa is a distinct advantage for this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements in all financial activities.
• Manage complex tax obligations including VAT, CIT, and SSCL, and coordinate with relevant authorities.
• Prepare and finalise financial statements (FS) in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
• Support internal and external audit processes with accurate and timely documentation.
• Maintain up-to-date financial records, ledgers, and reconciliations.
• Prepare periodic management reports and provide financial insights to senior management.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Undertake diverse accounting tasks as assigned by management in a flexible and proactive manner.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

• Professional Qualification: Completion of AAT or part-qualification in CA / ACCA is mandatory.
• Academic Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy/Finance or a related field will be considered a significant advantage.
• Audit Expertise: Minimum of 2 years of experience in Auditing.
• Commercial Insight: At least 4 years of experience in a mercantile or corporate environment.
• Taxation Mastery: Proven hands-on experience in handling VAT, CIT, SSCL, and other statutory requirements.
• Technical Proficiency: Comprehensive knowledge of Accounting Standards and a proven track record in preparing Financial Statements.
• Software Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks (QB) or Busy Accounting Software is preferred but not mandatory.
