Position: Primary School Teacher — Grade 1 to 5

📍 Location: Hayagiri International Buddhist College, Kandy

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver well-structured, engaging, and age-appropriate lessons for students in Grades 1 to 5.
• Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress through continuous assessments, tests, and written reports.
• Communicate student performance and development regularly to parents and school management.
• Develop and maintain classroom materials, resources, and lesson plans aligned with the curriculum requirements.
• Manage classroom behaviour and maintain discipline in a nurturing and respectful manner.
• Participate in school events, staff meetings, parent-teacher meetings, and extracurricular activities.
• Collaborate with co-teachers and school administration to ensure a cohesive and supportive academic environment.

Requirements

• A Diploma or Higher Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, or a related teaching discipline from a recognised institution.
• Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience at the primary school level.
• Good command of the English language — both spoken and written.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and teaching skills.
• Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate young learners.
• Patient, empathetic, and dedicated to the holistic development of primary school children.
