A subsidiary of Bank of Ceylon, Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka & Finance PLC (MBSL) is hiring an Assistant Manager – Gold Loan Investigation to support its Gold Loan portfolio controls.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the effective management and growth of MBSL’s Gold Loan portfolio through periodic and surprise stock verifications, investigations, and strengthening of internal controls across branches island-wide.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct periodic and surprise stock verifications of gold articles at branches island-wide
- Investigate discrepancies, irregularities, and operational issues related to gold loan activities
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Verify the accuracy of gold loan records and documentation
- Prepare investigation reports and recommend corrective actions to strengthen internal controls
- Liaise with branch staff and relevant departments to resolve identified issues
Candidate Profile
- Passed G.C.E. Advanced Level examination
- Degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration or a related field is preferred
- A diploma or professional qualification in Banking, Finance or a related field will be an added advantage
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience at Executive level
- Previous experience in audit, investigations, operations, or gold loan-related activities is preferable
- Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
- Age limit: 40 years
