Role Overview

McLarens Group is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant – Shipping & Logistics Sector to join their Shared Services team in Colombo. This specialist accounting role requires expertise in shipping finance, including handling disbursement accounts, multi-currency transactions, and high-volume freight invoice processing.

Location: Colombo (Shared Services Centre)
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent
Salary Range: LKR 170,000 – 200,000 per month (based on experience)

Key Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle accounting for the shipping and logistics cluster including accounts payable, receivable, and disbursement accounts (DA)
• Process high-volume freight invoices and perform multi-currency reconciliations accurately
• Prepare and submit monthly management accounts, variance analyses, and financial reports to cluster management
• Handle statutory tax compliance including VAT/S-VAT filings and ensure all financial transactions are audit-ready
• Manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with Sri Lankan labour regulations and EPF/ETF
• Liaise with banks, tax authorities, and vendors to resolve financial discrepancies
• Utilise specialised logistics ERP software (Gensoft or similar) to streamline fund disbursement and financial tracking
• Support year-end statutory audits with Big Four or top-tier audit firms

Requirements

• Part or full qualification from CA Sri Lanka, CIMA, ACCA, or CMA (or Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting)
• Minimum 2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably in the shipping, logistics, or freight forwarding sector
• Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan VAT/S-VAT regulations and SLFRS/LKAS standards
• Proficiency in accounting ERP systems (Gensoft, SAP, or Oracle); MS Excel (advanced) is essential
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail — 100% accuracy in financial data entry is required
• Strong external communication skills to interact with banks, vendors, and international shipping partners
• Open to male/female candidates; preferred age below 45 years
