Job Role
Catalan Industries is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and result-oriented Assistant HR Manager to join their team at the Matara facility. This is a senior HR role requiring a strong understanding of Sri Lankan labour laws, HR strategy, and people management. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the company’s HR function, driving talent acquisition, employee engagement, and organisational development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with organisational objectives.
- Lead end-to-end recruitment and talent acquisition strategies to build a strong talent pipeline across all levels.
- Oversee performance management systems and drive employee development and succession planning initiatives.
- Promote employee engagement, retention, and a positive organisational culture across the workforce.
- Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary matters in a fair and consistent manner.
- Ensure full compliance with Sri Lankan labour laws, statutory requirements, and company HR policies.
- Oversee compensation and benefits administration, recommend improvements aligned with market benchmarks.
- Lead and mentor the HR team, building capability, accountability, and a high-performance culture.
- Analyse HR metrics and prepare reports to support data-driven decision making for senior management.
- Partner with senior management to support business growth and organisational change initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan labour laws and HR best practices.
- Proven experience in HR strategy, talent management, performance management, and employee relations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost integrity.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
