Job Role

Catalan Industries is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and result-oriented Assistant HR Manager to join their team at the Matara facility. This is a senior HR role requiring a strong understanding of Sri Lankan labour laws, HR strategy, and people management. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the company’s HR function, driving talent acquisition, employee engagement, and organisational development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with organisational objectives.
Lead end-to-end recruitment and talent acquisition strategies to build a strong talent pipeline across all levels.
Oversee performance management systems and drive employee development and succession planning initiatives.
Promote employee engagement, retention, and a positive organisational culture across the workforce.
Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary matters in a fair and consistent manner.
Ensure full compliance with Sri Lankan labour laws, statutory requirements, and company HR policies.
Oversee compensation and benefits administration, recommend improvements aligned with market benchmarks.
Lead and mentor the HR team, building capability, accountability, and a high-performance culture.
Analyse HR metrics and prepare reports to support data-driven decision making for senior management.
Partner with senior management to support business growth and organisational change initiatives.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum 4 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.
Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan labour laws and HR best practices.
Proven experience in HR strategy, talent management, performance management, and employee relations.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost integrity.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
