About the Role
NDB Capital Holdings is seeking a highly experienced and credentialed Senior Manager – Risk and Control to lead the Group’s enterprise-wide risk management framework across its investment banking and capital markets businesses. This is a senior, second-line-of-defence leadership position that plays a pivotal role in independently overseeing both financial and non-financial risks while supporting sustainable business growth and strong governance across the Group.
The Senior Manager – Risk and Control will act as the primary risk custodian for the Group, working closely with the Board, senior management, and regulatory bodies to ensure that risk is systematically identified, assessed, monitored, and reported in alignment with regulatory expectations and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and evolve the enterprise-wide risk management framework across NDB Capital Holdings’ investment banking and capital markets operations.
- Independently oversee financial risks (market risk, credit risk, liquidity risk) and non-financial risks (operational risk, compliance risk, reputational risk) across Group entities.
- Serve as the second line of defence, providing objective risk oversight and challenge to first-line business functions.
- Develop, maintain, and periodically review risk policies, procedures, and limits in line with regulatory requirements and international best practices.
- Prepare and present comprehensive risk reports, dashboards, and analyses to the Board Risk Committee and senior management, ensuring transparency and timely escalation of emerging risks.
- Engage proactively with regulators, including the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Sri Lanka, and respond to regulatory enquiries and submissions.
- Monitor the regulatory landscape for changes impacting capital markets and investment banking, advising senior management on compliance implications.
- Facilitate risk awareness training and embed a strong risk culture throughout the Group.
- Support internal audit and external audit functions by providing risk-related information and coordinating remediation of audit findings.
- Drive continuous improvement in risk infrastructure, systems, and processes.
Qualifications and Experience
- 7–9 years of demonstrated experience in risk management within investment banking, capital markets, or broader financial services.
- Degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or a closely related field. Professional qualifications (e.g. FRM, CFA, CAIA, or similar) will be highly regarded.
- Prior experience engaging with regulators (e.g. SEC, Central Bank of Sri Lanka) and Board-level risk committees is highly desirable.
- Solid technical understanding of financial instruments, portfolio risk metrics, and capital markets regulations in Sri Lanka.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and influence senior leadership with well-reasoned, evidence-based risk assessments.
