About National Savings Bank (NSB)

National Savings Bank (NSB) is a fully government-owned bank in Sri Lanka, established in 1972 as a savings bank. The Bank is now recruiting for seven senior and mid-level positions in its Internal Audit, Information Systems (IS) Audit and Investigations functions. All positions are permanent, with a one-year probationary period.

Assistant General Manager – Information Systems Audit (Special Grade)

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Information Security, Computer Science or Cyber Security from a UGC-recognized university, plus one or more certifications such as CISA (ISACA), CISSP (ISC2) or CA Sri Lanka. A relevant master’s degree (MSc) is an added advantage.

Experience: At least 15 years in IS auditing or IT risk management within a bank or financial institution, telecommunication organization or IT/IS consulting firm, including at least 5 years in a senior managerial grade.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Practical experience of IS auditing standards, frameworks and industry best practices
  • Understanding of risk-based auditing in technology-driven and digital business environments
  • Knowledge of the CBSL Technology Risk Management Guidelines, ISO/IEC 27001 LA standards, PCI-DSS and the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA)
  • The ability to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of IT controls, systems, processes and procedures
  • The ability to deliver divisional KPIs and the annual IS Audit Plan
  • The ability to guide and mentor audit team leaders and staff
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical skills, with minimal supervision needed
  • Leadership and communication skills for engaging stakeholders at all levels
  • The ability to contribute to special assignments, including investigations into fraud, cybersecurity incidents and operational irregularities
  • Integrity, professionalism and confidentiality, and willingness to travel island-wide

Chief Manager – Information Systems Audit (Grade I)

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Information Security or Cyber Security from a UGC-recognized university, postgraduate qualifications in Information Systems, Information Systems Management or Information Security, and one or more certifications such as CISA, CISSP or CA Sri Lanka.

Experience: At least 12 years in IS auditing or IT risk management within a bank or financial institution, telecommunication organization or IS consulting firm, including at least 5 years in a managerial grade.

The ideal candidate has: the same technical, regulatory (CBSL guidelines, ISO/IEC 27001 LA, PCI-DSS, PDPA), analytical, leadership and travel requirements listed for the Assistant General Manager post, including delivery of divisional KPIs and the annual IS Audit Plan.

Chief Manager – Investigations (Grade I)

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree from a UGC-recognized university in Law, Criminology, Finance, Accountancy, Commerce, Business Administration, Public Administration, Management, Economics, Banking and Finance, Information Technology, or another relevant discipline acceptable to the Bank. Applicants also need one of these professional qualifications: Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, associate membership of ICASL or ACCA, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Associate of the Institute of Bankers (AIB).

Experience: At least 12 years, including at least 5 years in a managerial capacity, in one or more of these areas: investigations, fraud investigations, internal audit, forensic audit, compliance, risk management, banking operations, law enforcement, financial crime investigation and regulatory investigations. Experience in banking or financial services is preferred.

The ideal candidate has: strong analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills, a high level of integrity and confidentiality, the ability to work independently and make sound judgments, strong negotiation and presentation skills, and willingness to travel island-wide.

Assistant Manager – Internal Audit (Grade III Class II)

Qualifications: Associate membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) or the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). A master’s degree from a UGC-recognized university is an added qualification.

Experience: At least 6 years in internal or external audit in a reputed organization.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Knowledge of auditing, accounting and financial reporting standards, and of compliance and regulatory requirements for financial institutions
  • Knowledge of risk management and corporate governance in a financial institution
  • The ability to conduct risk-based audits, prepare audit reports and assess internal control procedures
  • The ability to audit in a computerized environment
  • Analytical, interpretation and writing skills, and strong interpersonal and managerial skills
  • Commitment to deadlines and willingness to travel island-wide for assignments

Assistant Manager – Information Systems Audit (Grade III Class II)

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Information Security or Cyber Security from a UGC-recognized university. CISA, CISM, CISSP or ISO 27001 certifications are an added advantage.

Experience: At least 4 years in IS auditing or IT risk management in a bank or financial institution, telecommunication organization or IT/IS/information security consulting, with analytical and technical skills and minimal supervision needed.

The ideal candidate has: knowledge of IS audit standards and best practices, understanding of risk-based auditing in an IT-driven environment, knowledge of the CBSL Technology Risk Management Guidelines, ISO/IEC 27001 LA, PCI-DSS and PDPA, the ability to independently analyze and finalize IS audits and investigations and draft reports and presentations, good team skills, and willingness to travel island-wide.

Executive – Internal Audit (Grade III Class III)

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accountancy, Commerce, Business or Management from a UGC-recognized university, together with either the Business Level examination of ICASL, the Managerial Level of CIMA or an equivalent qualification, or associate membership of ICASL, CIMA or ACCA.

Experience: At least 3 years in internal audit, external audit or finance in a reputed organization.

The ideal candidate has: knowledge of accounting and financial reporting standards, corporate governance and auditing practices in a financial institution, the ability to conduct risk-based audits and prepare audit reports, the ability to assess internal controls, teamwork and computerized audit skills, analytical and writing skills, commitment to deadlines and willingness to travel island-wide.

Executive – Information Systems Audit (Grade III Class III)

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Information Security or Cyber Security from a UGC-recognized university. CISA, CISM or ISO 27001 LA certifications are an added advantage.

Experience: At least 3 years in IS auditing or IT risk management in a bank or financial institution, telecommunication organization or IT/IS/information security consulting.

Terms of employment

  • All posts are permanent, subject to a one-year probationary period.
  • Confirmation depends on a performance evaluation during probation and a medical fitness certificate from a Medical Officer nominated by the Bank.
