The National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol (NATA) is a statutory body established under the National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol Act No. 27 of 2006. NATA operates under the purview of the Government of Sri Lanka and is mandated to regulate, control, and reduce the use of tobacco and alcohol in Sri Lanka. The authority implements national policy on tobacco and alcohol control, conducts research, and carries out enforcement and public awareness activities. NATA’s head office is located in Colombo. Vacancies Overview

NATA is currently recruiting for the following positions. These are government appointments offering the opportunity to contribute to Sri Lanka’s national public health mission through regulation and policy implementation. Applications must be submitted online before 2nd June 2026.

Open Positions

1. General Manager

Senior leadership role responsible for the overall administration, operations, and strategic direction of NATA. Candidates should possess substantial management experience and relevant qualifications in public administration or a related field. 2. Legal Officer

Responsible for providing legal advice, handling enforcement matters, and ensuring NATA’s regulatory activities comply with national legislation. An LLB degree and professional legal qualifications are required. Refer to the official advertisement for complete requirements.

3. Administrative Officer

Handles the day-to-day administrative functions of the authority, including record keeping, correspondence, and coordination with government departments. A relevant degree or professional qualification and administrative experience are required.

4. Research Officer

Conducts research on tobacco and alcohol prevalence, trends, and the impact of regulatory measures. Prepares research reports and supports evidence-based policy development. A relevant degree in a research-related field is required.

5. Development Officer

Supports programme implementation, outreach, and development activities relating to tobacco and alcohol control. Works with communities, schools, and stakeholders to promote public awareness. Relevant qualifications and experience required.

6. Driver

Responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of NATA official vehicles. A valid Sri Lanka driving licence with a clean record and experience as a government or institutional driver is required.
