About the Department of Export Agriculture
The Department of Export Agriculture (DoEA) is a government institution in Sri Lanka responsible for the development, promotion, and regulation of export agricultural crops including tea, rubber, coconut, spices, and other plantation crops. Operating under the Ministry of Plantation Industries, the department plays a key role in sustaining Sri Lanka’s export agriculture sector, which is a significant contributor to the national economy. The department provides technical support, research, and extension services to growers and stakeholders in the export agriculture industry.

Key Responsibilities by Role
Farm Manager
- Manage and oversee the operations of government export agricultural farms
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise crop cultivation, harvesting, and post-harvest activities
- Maintain farm records, budgets, and operational documentation
- Ensure efficient use of land, labour, and agricultural inputs
Extension Officer
- Provide technical advice and training to export crop growers and farming communities
- Promote good agricultural practices and modern cultivation techniques
- Coordinate field visits and conduct awareness programmes on export agriculture
- Assist in implementing government agricultural development projects
Technical Officer
- Provide technical support in agricultural research, testing, and analysis
- Assist in the implementation of crop protection and pest management programmes
- Maintain technical records and laboratory documentation
- Support the department’s field operations and technical programmes
General Requirements
- Open to all eligible citizens of Sri Lanka
- Academic qualifications relevant to agriculture, agricultural science, or related fields
- Age limit and other specific requirements as per the Government Gazette (2026.05.08)
