Position: Credit Officer – Western Province

Job Overview

The Credit Officer will play a pivotal role in driving new customer acquisition and managing the credit portfolio of the assigned branch within the Western Province. Working closely with the Branch Manager and Relationship Manager, the role demands strong analytical skills, a flair for marketing, and the ability to build lasting client relationships while ensuring the bank’s credit quality standards are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Meet new customers and provide tailored financial solutions to meet their requirements, focusing on new customer acquisition.
• Assist the Branch Manager in achieving annual budgeted credit targets and supporting the overall growth of the branch.
• Prepare comprehensive credit proposals inclusive of financial analysis, risk analysis, and other requirements of the bank.
• Liaise with the credit approving authority of the bank to obtain timely approvals for credit facilities.
• Accompany the Branch Manager and Relationship Manager on client visits and meetings to strengthen business relationships.
• Perform periodic reviews of revolving and other credit facilities on a timely basis.
• Monitor the branch credit portfolio and provide effective solutions to customers experiencing difficulties in repayment.

Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of banking experience, of which at least 3 years should be in a credit-related role.
• Full or part qualification in Banking, Credit Management, or International Trade will be an added advantage.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
• Good analytical skills including the ability to understand and interpret financial statements accurately.
• A flair for marketing with an outgoing, confident, and results-driven personality.
