Trinity College Kandy is one of Sri Lanka’s most prestigious schools, known for its rich tradition of academic excellence, sports, and co-curricular achievement. The College’s Junior School Chess Programme operates under the administrative purview of the Principal within the College’s Sports Management & High-Performance framework, and the school is now seeking a dedicated coach to lead this programme forward.

Role Overview

Trinity College Kandy seeks an individual with drive, professionalism, and creative excellence to coach Junior School students in chess, helping develop the next generation of strategic thinkers and competitive players. The selected candidate will report directly to the Principal.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct chess coaching sessions for Junior School students
  • Develop students’ strategic thinking, analytical skills, and competitive chess abilities
  • Prepare and mentor teams for inter-school and national chess tournaments
  • Identify and nurture young chess talent within the school
  • Maintain discipline and uphold the values and standards of the College

Requirements

  • Proven experience in coaching chess at school, club, or competitive level
  • Sound knowledge of chess theory, tactics, and tournament preparation
  • Ability to work effectively with young children
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous achievements in chess coaching and/or competitive chess will be an added advantage

Salary

Will be on par with qualifications, experience, and other relevant criteria.
