Role Overview

iLabs is looking for a talented Associate Data Engineer or Data Engineer to join their growing data platform team. You will be responsible for designing, building and maintaining scalable data pipelines and infrastructure that power analytics and machine learning products for global clients. This role offers strong mentorship, international exposure, and a clear growth path to Senior Data Engineer.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop robust ETL/ELT data pipelines using Python, Apache Spark, and Airflow
Build and maintain data warehouses and data lakes on cloud platforms (AWS Redshift, BigQuery, or Snowflake)
Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to ensure data quality, availability and performance
Implement data governance, lineage tracking and monitoring for production pipelines
Optimise SQL queries and database schemas for large-scale analytical workloads
Participate in code reviews, technical design sessions and agile ceremonies
Document data architecture and pipeline processes clearly

Required Qualifications

BSc in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related engineering discipline
1–4 years of hands-on data engineering experience (Associate) or 3–6 years (Data Engineer)
Strong Python programming skills with experience in data processing libraries (pandas, PySpark)
Solid SQL skills across multiple database platforms (PostgreSQL, MySQL, BigQuery)
Experience with cloud platforms — AWS, GCP, or Azure
Knowledge of workflow orchestration tools (Apache Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster)
Understanding of data warehousing concepts (star schema, SCD, partitioning)

Nice to Have

AWS Certified Data Analytics or Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification
Experience with dbt (data build tool) for data transformation
Exposure to streaming data platforms (Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis)
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines
