About the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO)
The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) — also referred to as the National Building Research Institute — is a premier Sri Lanka government research institution under the Ministry of Housing and Construction. NBRO is responsible for conducting research and providing technical advisory services on natural disaster risk reduction, geotechnical investigations, landslide risk mapping, building construction standards, and soil testing across Sri Lanka. NBRO plays a critical national role in disaster preparedness, particularly in landslide-prone areas, and supports government decision-making with scientific data and research.
Position: Management Assistant (ළමා කළමනාකරණ සහකාර)
The National Building Research Organisation is inviting applications for the permanent post of Management Assistant. This is an important administrative support role within NBRO’s operations, contributing to the efficient functioning of the institute’s research, technical, and administrative divisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and secretarial support to the management and technical divisions of NBRO
- Maintain official documents, registers, correspondence, and filing systems
- Assist in preparing official reports, letters, and institutional communications
- Coordinate meetings, maintain records, and assist in organisational planning activities
- Handle data entry, records management, and database maintenance
- Liaise with internal departments and external government agencies as required
- Support procurement, asset management, and HR administrative functions
General Requirements
- GCE Advanced Level (A/L) qualification — passed in three subjects
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential
- Good communication skills in Sinhala and English
- Minimum typing speed and computer literacy as specified in official advertisement
- Prior administrative experience in a government institution is an advantage
- Age limit and full requirements as per official advertisement
