Role Overview
McLarens Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join GAC Sri Lanka as an Executive – Operations. This is an operational role that requires a candidate who is comfortable working in a 24/7 shipping environment and can handle vessel operations, principal communications, and port coordination with precision.
Location: Colombo (Port Area)
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent
Work Pattern: Shift-based including 24/7 on-call availability for vessel arrivals/departures

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure familiarity with all operational procedures outlined in the Shipping Department Operations Manual
- Respond promptly to inquiries from principals and customers; manage operations once allocated by Managers or Assistant Managers
- Follow GAC Agent’s procedures and compliance regulations, including ethics, sanction policies, and all system-related activities
- Execute responsibilities as outlined in the Operations Checklist accurately and within set timelines
- Ensure timely follow-up on balance payments for all handled operations and track outstanding payments with the disbursement accounts department
- Update statistical reports as requested by management and assist with archiving monthly KPIs and budgets
- Assist in acquiring new principals and promote available launch facilities to local and foreign partners
- Be available 24 hours for any operational needs or emergency requirements including attending to vessels arriving at or departing from ports
Requirements
- Diploma in Shipping, Maritime Studies, Transport & Logistics, or a related field
- 1–2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the shipping or maritime industry
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (English proficiency essential)
- Proficiency in IT systems relevant to shipping operations
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced, time-sensitive environments
- High level of integrity and commitment to compliance standards
- Willingness to work 24/7 on-call schedule including weekends and public holidays
