Job Role
PL.MTT. Muthukaruppan Chettiar Jewellers invites applications from qualified and experienced finance professionals for the role of Accountant. The successful candidate will oversee all financial operations, manage tax matters, provide strategic financial insights, and lead the finance team. This is a senior-level role requiring strong leadership, deep financial expertise, and the ability to manage complex, multi-dimensional financial environments within a heritage retail business.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee financial operations, including the preparation of annual financial statements, monthly budgets, forecasts, and special financial reports.
- Assist in financial reporting, auditing, and maintenance of accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Manage company tax matters and act as the company representative to the Inland Revenue Department (IRD).
- Provide strategic financial insights to support business planning, sales and promotional activities, and operational initiatives.
- Support branch audits and contribute to business promotional activities across all company locations.
- Supervise and mentor team members, ensuring effective delegation of tasks and professional development.
Candidate Requirements
- A degree in Finance Management is essential; an MBA from a recognised university will be an added advantage.
- Membership in a professional body (ICASL / CIMA / ACCA) is required, with 4–5 years of experience, preferably with audit expertise in one of the Big Four firms.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Strong leadership abilities with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Experience in handling payments, negotiating financial terms, and maintaining follow-up processes.
- Ability to supervise, appraise, and guide team members effectively.
- Fluency in speaking, writing, and reading Tamil is required.
